1. A rooted android device 2.A USB cable 3.A computer 4. An internet connection

Basically you should find a custom ROM that you like for your Android Device(Phone/Tablet) using by XDA Forums where it is good place to find custom ROM.You can use any search Engine for further works.I use normally best search engine such as Google.

As Example- Type in the search engine bar your requirements which it should include below details about your Phone Model. "best custom ROMs for Samsung galaxy s4 i9500" Wow, You can see so many Custom ROM .You should select better custom ROM as your Wish. After you found Custom ROM ,you should make sure which its available for your phone as well as for your specific variant For Example in the S4- There is more than one variant Which there is the i9500, i9505 and more so make sure its your specific device and variant you are whether Compatible or not. Finally you can download selected Awesome Custom ROM to your personal computer. You should know that most custom ROMs that you download not have the google apps with them pre-installed, you can ask it from XDA Forums. If the Google apps are not pre-installed, when you should download them to your computer (they are known as GApps). The GApps should be compatible with the Android version you are going to get.

As Example-The ROM you downloaded should be based on android 4.4 kitkat as well as the gapps should be compatible with android 4.4 kitkat. Some Custom ROMs have their own Gapps while so make sure you download their Gapps package.

Connect your phone to the computer

Yes,Good,Now you should transfer the Custom ROM as well as Gapps to your Andrroid Phone primarally(you know that both file are Zip.files) Then turn off your Android Phone which it should turn to the Recovery Mode.Going into recovery mode is varies from one Android phone to another as well as from one brand to another. So you should concern about it specially.

As Example. For Samsung Galaxy S4- Pressing and Holding of VOLUME UP and the HOME button and the POWER button all together in the same time.As soon as you can see the Samsung Logo, stop holding the buttons, Otherwise you are in recovery mode now.your recovery modes are not look exactly the same.

Before you will begin, recommend making a full backup which it is called a Nandroid Backup, but it is very important why have backs up (everything) in your phone, so if anything will go wrong during the installation of Custom ROM when you can restore just backup, you can come back here and simply again. You should navigate to Wipe Cache Partition.

Then confirm you want to wipe the cache partition (It is depending on your recovery, you can navigate using the volume up/down buttons and the power button as the enter key, or it might be touch) When After done it , you should navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset then you should confirm you want to wipe the data. Some Custom ROMs require to delete the Dalvik Cache too, you can know whether you should delete it or not using the XDA Forums.if you need to delete it when it is depending on your recovery, it might be in different places.it is shown mainly under Advanced.

Now you are ready to install the custom ROM into your Android phone. Your Android Phone is still in recovery mode, You should navigate to Install ZIP FROM SD CARD. then, it will be depending where you put the files in your phone, internal or external SD card, Anyway navigate to CHOOSE ZIP FROM SD CARD or CHOOSE ZIP FROM EXTERNAL SD CARD now navigate to the place where you put the custom ROM and Gapps Now you should select the custom ROM FIRST, then you should confirm you want to install it, wait for several minutes to be fulfilled the installation. After Custom ROM installation done,You should install the Gapps as same manner.

Some custom ROMs need to be used before installiing gapps, you can know it using by the XDA Forum, if there are not given anything about this when just install the Gapps directly after the custom rom After you install the custom ROM and Gapps, you should go back to the main menu of the recovery mode, and you should select Reboot System NOW you will restart your phone, don’t forget that you have new custom ROM now, the first time it starts it might take a few minutes, so don’t afraid for that. But if it will take a long time when its means something is gone as wrong,Really as my experience it will be not such a thing.Anyway if you couldn’t gain a best results when you should all steps again.then you can get a best results.

If everything works alright when your Android Phone will boot/work to the new custom ROM you have installed.Thanks.
